College/NFL rules differences. Which do you prefer?

Feel free to comment about any of them.

1) college hash marks are wider

2) college goal posts are wider

3) college receivers only need 1 foot in bounds for reception

4) college runners are down even w/o contact

5) college defenders can force receiver out of bounds causing incompletion

6) NFL OT is a sudden-death format

7) NFL has a 2-minute warning

8) college clock stops temporarily after 1st downs

9) NFL clock restarts after runner goes out of bounds

10) college plays reviewed by replay booth after every play

11) NFL penalty for all pass interference is a spot foul

12) NFL places ball at 2 yard line for extra points, college at the 3 yard line

13) college defensive team can return a failed extra point attempt for 2 points

College/NFL rules differences. Which do you prefer?
1) college- it's harder on the kicker and there wouldn't be so many game-winning field goals from 20 yards out to the right

2) NFL- it proves that a kicker needs to be accurate to succeed

3) NFL- again, it proves that a WR needs to know where he is to catch it

4) college- it helps the players get better and keep their balance

5) college- it shows how strong a defender is to push him out

6) college- I just like it better

7) college- too much time taken in an NFL game

8) college- it allows a last-minute drive to go farther without taking too much time on a two minute warning

9) college- same as #8

10) college- it makes sure that the game is called correctly

11) NFL- the guy would've caught it had he not been interfered with

12) college- on two point conversions, it's harder to get 3 yards than two yards

13) college- though I think it should be 6 points

I think the game should be hard as possible so it shows who the real best players are.
Reply:I Think in college they should be able get off ground without contact and in the NFL the clock should stop after first down in the final 2 minutes of each quarter.

Sometimes the stupid refs dont get the ball ready and there the clock just keeps running dont seem fair.

I would like for the pros go to 1 foot in bounds instead of two, it would cut down on alot of instant replays, I mean you don't have to have two hands on the ball when you reach or dive for the endzone, I think as long as your in your in.

they should also get rid of that calling timeout crap right before a fieldgoal kinda unsportsmenlike

OT are both great in there on way it should stay the same.
Reply:I would like the NFL to adopt the one foot in bounds for reception,do not like either college or pro's way when it goes to overtime, there should be a maximum of two quarters in overtime, and after that called it a tie like the old days,it's not fair for the offense of one team not getting to play in overtime if the other team scores first
Reply:NFL Rules Reign Supreme
Reply:college rules, because in college you play for your school and no for money,
Reply:College because USC makes college football best ever.

Fight On!!

Root for USC
Reply:College.
Reply:1) college - The ball should be marked as close to the sidelines as possible when play is ended outside the hash marks. It makes for a more difficult next play.

2) college - Makes for longer field goals, although nfl kickers are a lot better, so the posts really have to be closer

3) nfl - two feet in bounds. It's more impressive.

4) nfl - if you can get up, do it!

5) college - shows awareness

6) college - more fair, and more exciting

7) nfl - emphasizes the two minute drill, and saves teams timeouts. I think it makes the game more exciting

8) college - Play should not continue while the refs get their acts together.

9) huh? Doesn't the clock stop for both on out of bounds plays?

10) nfl - It slows down the game and college. If college had a 2-minute warning, reviews under two minutes is a good idea, like in the nfl.

11) push - depends on the situation. Some pass interference calls are questionable. I'm leaning towards college though. Questionable P.I. calls can be game changers in pro, although in college a sure catch all the way downfield can be interfered for only a 15 yard penalty. It's a catch-22.

12) Indifferent

13) College

I'll add one too. I think the horsecollar rule should, and will be enforced for the next college football season. I've seen too much of it this year and it is dangerous as hell.
Reply:I think the one issue I have with College ball is the Ovetime setup. You start at the 25 yard line? Who decided that was a good starting point? And why this pansy-*** idea that "Both team offenses should get a chance with the ball"? Why don't you stop somebody on defense?

The rule I dont like in the NFL is the pass interference rule. I think it gives WAY to much power to the offense, as if scoring isn't high enough anyway. It should only be a spot foul within 15 yards, but in the pros that rule can become a 45 to 60 yard penalty depending on how far a QB can chuck it and how far the WR ran. It just too much punishment for the defense.
Reply:I guess I have OCD, but it annoys the hell out of me that they line up on the hash marks in college.
Reply:The one rule that I like in College that the NFL need to pick up is the pass interference is only 15 yards..

Here is a new rule for NFL Pros that I think they need to add for overtime both offense get a chance to win the game.

Example} I get a chance with the ball you get a chance with the ball...
Reply:Yeah go USC, unless you play Stanford, and everyone finds out how overrated you are, when you lose to a 41 pt underdog, but other than that go OVER-RATED TEAM OF THE PAC-10. BTW I think they should change the OT rule in the NFL to how the NCAA is but other than keep the NFL rules
