College question - - -?

Question -

can a person go to a college (not a community college)

for one year, then go to a different (not community) college, then go to yet another college for graduate studies?

The thing is I'm thinking of going to one christian college, but not untill sophomore year, so I want to go to one closer to my home for the first year, but not a community college, then U of M for graduate studies.

Is it crazy to go to two different schools (like would it be silly to get attached to one then go to another?) ???

Alrighty well, any advice would be wonderful.

Thank you!

Its definitely do able to transfer between your first and second years. I really wouldn't see a reason to plan to transfer unless you started at community college. So I do not personally think it is a good idea even though it can be done. If you don't like your school, or find that you need a different school for a different major or financial reasons then it is a good idea to transfer but I would never recommend planning to transfer.

Undergraduate and graduate studies do not have to be done at the same school. You apply for grad school after you have your bachelors degree, and you apply whereever you want.

Hope I helped.
Reply:I don't see why not.

I started at a community college..then transfered to a 4 year college when I was done. I decided I hated that college and transferred to a different 4 year college after a semester or two.
Reply:It's all a question of transferring credits. Some weaker schools credit students too highly for substandard work, and other schools mark down those credits. You may find that first year highly beneficial to you, but U of M may think your year is worth 1/2 or less to them. You may find yourself in school longer without an approved plan.
Reply:Check, and re-check with the proper authorities at both schools to make sure that all your credits can be transferred from one college to another. Otherwise, your time would be more-or-less wasted at the first college.

Other than that, I see no problem switching schools during the 1st 4 years.

As for graduate studies, that is done all the time -- getting a bachelor's degree from one (or more) undergraduate programs, then a masters from another university.

.
Reply:I go to a christian college right now but plan to go to another college next year....I just wanted a good foundation before I go to a state school.....I think that you should do it. It should work out fine....you should totally go for it
Reply:you can obviously do that if you wish, but personally I find that just too tedious and just not worth it, I would just try and finish my studies at one school, then go to another if I want to persue a higher degree not at that school
Reply:One thing you have to be very concerned about is if your credits will transfer.
