College Question: Is This Allowed?

I went to college for one semester and did very poorly. I passed one class and gained 4 credits. In high school I was a fairly decent student that took AP classes and participated in lots of activities/honor programs. I did poorly in college due to depression problems that I won't get into right now.

I was wondering if it was allowed to reapply to colleges using only my high school transcript if I was willing to lose the 4 credits I gained while attending the first time. Some of the colleges I looked into said that they only consider you a transfer student if you gained atleast 12 credits (and I only have 4). If not I'll have to go to community college before I can transfer (due to my now low GPA) to a better college which would take more time for me to graduate and due to limited financial aid available at community college would actually cost more. Beyond that our local community colleges are very poor with bad professors and boring courses so I would rather not go back there.

College Question: Is This Allowed?
You may not reapply to college ignoring the semester you went through before. Colleges want a complete picture of your performance, and it would be dishonest to only turn in the good grades. They may recognize, though, that you had a bad time of it, especially if this was a while ago, and give you a second chance. I went through something very similar, and while I had to go to a less prestigious college for a while, it was actually very good for building back my confidence. I went on to get 3 graduate degrees, so you aren't doomed.
Reply:I would go talk to someone in the admissions office of the college you are wanting to go to, all are different. If I were you, I would have declared academic bankruptcy and taken the time off. You will be able to get back in but you will be on academic probation for a year or two. That means you had better get C's in all your classes. You can still pull your GPA up to about a 3.5 or so. The good thing is that it was your first year, and you did not have a lot of classes. If you had then it would be very hard to pull up your GPA. You can get back in you just need to see what the requirements are and what all the paper work is that you will need to fill out. So call up the admissions office of where you are planning on going and go talk with someone from that college. That is the best thing to do. The fact is you have sat out for a while and it will look like you have grown up some in that time and now are wanting to really apply yourself. Just talk to them and I am sure you will get back in. Good luck!! =)
Reply:Have you ever been to a community College, Community college is cheap, and the majority of the professors teach at the local universities. I get so tired of people saying community college is bad I went to a to University Mount st Marycollege, recieved my degree and then I went to a community college to take course towards medical school. Again the majority of professors that teach a community colleges teach at the Major, Major Universities. Now I see why you have 4 units, U R Stupid
Reply:talk to someone in admissions and records and find out

also community college isnt bad. i dont go to one but they are cheaper and offer you the same stuff as a regular college! i wish i would have gone to the JC in my area instead of the college im attending mainly because its cheaper and more flexible.
