College???//////?

Well I am in High School and I am about to go to college. I thought that college was only 4 years. My mom says its 8 years or more?? Is that true?

College???//////?
It's 8 years if you want to become a doctor or get a PhD. A bachelor's degree should take 4 years.
Reply:College (undergraduate - bachelor degree) is usually only 4-5 years depending on what you study.
Reply:Depends on what your going into. Go to a community college and its 2 years for an associates. To a 4yr and you get a bachelour degree (but i'm on the five-year plan because i'm a slacker) My friend is doing a physical therapy program, after her 4yrs, she graduated with a bachelour degree and now has 3 years for the gradschool program. It all just depends.
Reply:depends on how quickly you want to be done... if you wanted to take a classa year it could last 20.... most 4-5 years depending on program.. if you were to become a doctor... phd etc.. your looking at 6-9
Reply:That depends on what type of degree you want. You can get an associates in 2 years, a bachelor in 4. You can continue on to get a masters.

Look up your field of study, or your chosen college online and see the suggested time of study.
Reply:If you wanna be wealthly. Its worth it, but expensive, but look at th long run
Reply:Only if you're planning to get your doctorate. The average college student graduates in 4-5 years not 8...
Reply:associates in 2

undergraduate in 4-5 which is standard

accelerated proffesional programs 7

grad school 4 more after undergraduate

PHD 4 more after graduate
Reply:Your bachelors degree is (usually) 120 credits. If you go full time for four years, that is what you will have. If you double major, you usually have to have more credits, so you would likely be there longer.

Most schools will let you take more credits each semester, if you are doing well. In that case, many students finish in 3 years. (even less, for some). I would recommend you stick with the traditional program, and just do your absolute best.

If you are going for your masters degree.. that will typically be another 1-2 years. If you are going for your Ph.D (Doctorate), then it will take even longer. For that, 8 years is probably a good estimate.

When you enter into school, you are going for your bachelors degree or associates degree. For bachelors: I know people who have finished in 2.5 years, and people who went part time and it took them 8 years to finish. It depends on your pace. But traditionally, 4 years for this degree.

Associates degree is typically two years.

I am assuming you are going for your bachelors, because that is the traditional path for HS graduates.
