College....?

what are the advantages and disadvantages for living on campus at college?

College....?
Advantages:

If you've never lived on your own, this would be a way to with out having to worry about rent, it will also give you a sense of independence and maturity. You'll meet a bunch of different people from all over the world and the country, which will be a good to experience all the different cultures there are out there. Also this would be a good way to network for after college.

Disadvantages:

Dealing with roommates, some people take their freedom from parents to an extreme and party and drink way too much. Females have to worry about being attacked, many women get raped when they live on campus. Any comforts of home, you will most likely not find at the dorms.
Reply:living on campus is better in a way since you are able to pay for dorms via financial aid. Off campus works only if you want to throw massive parties at your place.
Reply:Another advantage of living on campus as opposed to living off campus is the proximity to classes. At most colleges, freshmen are guaranteed on campus housing. If this is the case, take it. On campus dorms are are most likely fairly close to your classes to a point where you can walk, skateboard or bike there.

By living off campus your first year you add a lot of unneeded stress and expenses.

1) You may need a car or to ride the bus to campus (not as convenient as walking if you lived on campus!)

2) You'll have to purchase a parking permit for that car.

3) Deal with landlords and most likely sub-par living conditions depending on what apartments you live in (because the good ones will probably already be taken by the time you apply for a lease).

4) Cook and clean! Off campus living has this disadvantage which may take up a lot of your time. On campus living generally has maids who come and clean on a weekly basis and dorm food.

hope that helps!
