Going on to my junior year soon. Three years away from finishinh, I hope. But my question is anyone in Reserve or Split-Time Program for Reserve while in College? Also a second question once being a reservist is it hard to move up to active duty? I am curious because after college I am interested in going into the military, and before I do I'd like to have some experience. Thanks for any info. Have a good one.
College...?
yes you can do it. It is actually a very good thing to get into. I am in the marine reserves and once a month we meet up, do whatever the plan of the weekend is ie live fire, medical, whatever needs done, and then we go home on sunday. But the downfall is you can get called up to active duty at anytime, so keep that in mind before you join if you want to get school done. There are many schools that have rotc programs and you get commissioned after you get school done and you pass ocs. Then you can be an officer in the reserves like the national guard, or marine reserve, i think all branches have a reserve program. Thats something to think about. And it is pretty easy going from reserve to active duty, it involves a little leg work, and lots of paperwork, but its pretty easy. You will get the gi bill and make approx. 200 250 dollars a month at drill. Now the rotc program pays too, but im not sure how much. semper fi
edit- the only branch i haven't heard of having a rotc program is the coast guard. The marines would fall under the navy rotc program if that's what you would want to go in.
Reply:What's your branch? If it's the Navy they have the NROTC.
