College????

I plan to go to a community college forst to get my associate degree and then jump into a university. So my question is, when you get the associate degree and you go for a bachelors do they combine or is it another 4 years?

College????
They combine. In other words, you will go to community college for two years, and than a university for two years.
Reply:That would assume that all of your community college credits transfer/are accepted by the 4-year school... which isn't always the case. I read somewhere else here in Yahoo Answers that someone suggested speaking with the 4-year school as you plan your community college courseload, to ensure the"best" fit. Makes sense to me.
Reply:They combine. Your associates degree will take care of your first two years of college, and then you'll spend two years at your university.

You should get a copy of the university's catelog so you'll know which classes to take while you're at your community college and at what level.

For example, let's say you major in Biology and take a 200 level (sophomore) Microbiology course at your community college. Your university requires a Microbiology course for Biology majors, and you think you have that class taken care of, but the university's Microbiology course is 300 level (junior). They won't accept a 200 level course to fullfil the requirement. In that case, you should have taken something else at the community college and waited until you were at the university to take Microbiology.

That probably doesn't make any sense right now, but eventually it will. Just get a copy of your university's catelog and read about your major's requirements and talk them over with your community college advisor. Make sure he's competent.
Reply:They combine but all of the credits might not transfer over. Most of them should, though. You can be done with both in 4 years.
